(1) 설명을 덧붙일때 콜론(:)을 쓴다

(2) But 절은 강조를 위해 목적어가 문두로 인상된 문장. 목적어 도치일 경우에는 주어+동사의 어순이 바뀌지 않는다.

(3) 해석: 이것은 과학자들이 과학적으로 증명하기 시작했지만 우리 대부분은 처음부터 알고 있었습니다. 우리는 누군가 우리에게 친절할 때만큼 다른 사람에게 친절하다는 것을 느낀다.

 

For our brain, being kind is as good as any other pleasurable activities, for example eating something yummy-something delicious which tastes good.

(2) 대시(-)는 부연설명을 나타낸다.

(3)Feels as good as- 의 Feel은 2형식 문장을 만드는 Be 동사 유형의 연결동사 Good 이 보어 

 

And yet we have this idea that compassion somehow doesn't belong, that it can be dismissed in the same way as women have been dismissed as something fluffy and a nice idea but not really practical.

(1)해석: 그럼에도 불구하고 우리는 동정심은 어떤 식으로든 속하지 않는다는 생각을 가지고 있습니다. 그것은 여성들이 뭔가 푹신푹신하고 좋은 아이디어로 치부된 것과 같은 방식으로 치부될 수 있지만 실제로는 실용적이지 않다는 생각을 가지고 있습니다.

     Dismiss 묵살하다 To officially refuse to consider an idea or opinion.

                            The committe dismissed the idea as rubbish

                해고하다 To officially make someone leave their job

                            To give someone official permission to leave

                             Anyone who breaks company rules will be dismissed
